Autopoietics (2016)

Autopoietics is a choreographic score to accompany composer Ted Coffey's work by the same name. How can a dance play the role of a sideman? Two dancers tear lines in large sheets of paper in increasing and decreasing durations from one-five minutes. The dancers' work produces an evolving sculptural form and sonic drone, which becomes a canvas on which the musical composition evolves.

"Autopoietics IV is a piece for networked laptops. It is an open work in which an ensemble is presented with a set of constraints—and empowered to determine new constraints. It's through collective play that the music is defined."
